Union City Batteries: High, Brazzell and Zuba

Greeting Union City pitching with a rousing basehit welcome, Owensboro’s Oilers slugged their way to an 8-1 triumph over the understaffed Union City Greyhounds last night.

Buickel, on the hill for the Oilers allowed 10 hits, but was stingy in the pinches and kept the Greyhounds well in check despite the one-man stick show of Vertabrae, Union City second baseman who got a triple and two singles.

The Owensboro hitting attack was led by manager Earle Brown who got a single and two doubles.

Ralph Brazzell, Kittawa youth who is making a stab at pitching with Union City, hurled the last three innings and turned in a good performance, although one unearned run crossed the plate in the last frame.
