The Owensboro Pirates lost a hard fought game to the Mayfield Clothiers at Southside Park here today. The score was 7 to 6. It marked the sixth consecutive setback given the locals.

Owensboro got off to a one-run lead in the first inning, but the visitors tallied four in the second on two singles, a double and a home run over the left field fence by Bagrosky.

The locals bunched three hits in the seventh inning to count two runs, but four hits including a double by Gregory were only good for one run.

A double by Weistler and a single by Bagrosky accounted for a couple of runs for the visitors in the ninth.

The Pirates made a bid in their frame when Sweetland led off with a double and scored on Clemen’s single.
