A nine-run rally in the eighth inning paved the way for a 16 to 10 victory by the Owensboro Pirates over Lexington here today, and put the Bucs in seventh place while the Giants went into the cellar. The Giants collected a total of 20 hits to 17 for Owensboro.
Scoreless for two innings, Lexington started the ball rolling with two runs in the third inning, but Owensboro came back in the same stanza with three to go into the lead, and then scored in each of the following innings, climaxing the performance in the eighth, Lexington headed the Pirates several times and was in the lead 8 to 7 at the end of the first half of the eighth.
Manager Huge Wise of the Owensboro club announced the release of Turlington, an outfielder and Fox, an infielder. The Bucs recently acquired Raspburry and Justice and it was for them the releases were made.
