Indians Thump Out 17 Hits To Trip Owensboro

Working smoothly behind the 17-hit attack of his teammates, Swede Thompson registered his sixteenth victory of the year as Owensboro dropped its third straight to Paducah, losing 6-5 in a hectic melee.

Thompson went the route and although tapped for 13 hits was effective in the pinches. Fitzgerald started for the Pirates and was removed in the seventh with the bases loaded and none out. Helvy followed and pitched good ball until pulled for a pinch hitter in the eighth.

Manager Wise finished on the mound after starting at third base. Paducah tallied in the second, Owensboro deadlocking the game in its half; the Indians grabbed a two run lead in the third and the Bucs knotted the score again. A pair of runs in the fourth gave the visitors the lead which they never surrendered. Swope hit safely five times in as many appearances. Johnson hit a homer for Owensboro while Dantic continued his hitting spree, getting three for five.
