Jackson Defeated

Behind a 16-hit attack, Les Sweetland pitched the Owensboro Pirates to a 13 to 6 victory over the Jackson Generals today to even the current series. The final game will be played Thursday.

The hitting of Johnson, Clemens, Hayden and Raspburry featured winners’ attack. Owensboro scored one in each of the first two frames only to be passed by Jackson in the first of the fifth but took the lead in the last of the fifth which they never surrendered. Four runs in the sixth and five in the eighth iced the slugging melee.

Webb was knocked from the hill in the sixth to be followed by Humming, who was the victim of the five-run attack in the eighth. Sweetland went the route for the Pirates.
