Thompson Notches 20 Mound Victories

“Sweede” Thompson registered his twentieth victory of the season as the Paducah Indians gained a 7 to 2 verdict over the Owensboro Pirates in the season’s final.

Thompson coasted to an easy win striking out ten men. The Bucs accounted their pair of runs when Gregory singled out and Dantic rifled the ball over the left field fence.

The first half champs started counting in the third when they bunched six hits to tally five runs. Three of these six hits were of the scratch variety in the infield as the Bucs falled to play “heads up” ball.

Gassaway started for Owensboro but was removed in the seventh for Durheim who later gave way for Helvey: in favor of Pinchhitter Sweetland.
